Pure New York grit.
Without that do-or-die quality, the Knicks would not have had a hope of winning the fourth finals game against the San Antonio Spurs in Madison Square Garden on June 10.
In the first two quarters of the NBA (National Basketball Association) championship game, the Knicks played scared and chaotically. At one point, they trailed the Spurs by 29 points.
Where was the wonder team that had won 13 consecutive games until the loss to the Spurs in the third game?
Then suddenly, they pulled themselves together and worked as a team. Point by point, they closed the historic gap.
With only seconds left on the clock, OG Anunoby gently tapped the ball into the basket, which would surely, otherwise, have rebounded against the backboard like so many others in that game. He gave it his all, scoring the point that won the game.
New York is a city, where the impossible becomes possible.
I love New York, where I grew up.
Thank you, Knicks.
The New York Knickerbockers are now just one win from their first title in 53 years. They will have a chance to clinch the title in San Antonio on June 13.
