Artist Kiki Smith Opening in Paris
Click for 5 minutes of Kiki Smith's work. Smith is a West German-born American artist whose work has addressed the themes of sex, birth and regeneration, according to Wikipedia. Her figurative work of the late 1980s and early 1990s confronted subjects such as AIDS and gender, while recent works have depicted the human condition in relationship to nature. Smith lives and works in the Lower East Side neighborhood of New York City and in the Hudson Valley in New York State. The Financial Times reports that Smith, now 65, "has exhibitions all over the place - at the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford; in the genteel salon space at the Galleria Continua in San Gimignano; in a small Belgian gallery that specializes in prints. And then there is her first ever full-scale monographic show in Paris, which opens at the Monmaie de Paris this month.
