American Photographer Ansel Adams

"It seems unlikely that we will see again an artist like Adams. Younger photographers of integrity will presumably form their view of the world on the basis of their own experience, and they will have seen Yosemite not as a surviving fragment of Eden, but as a recreational center. If this is the case, Adams' work is all the more to be cherished. For those who share his memory of a world that seemed not yet quite fully used, it is a precious souvenir. For the young and for the future, it will define something of great value from a former time, now lost, that must be retrieved and reformed in different times."
